  Title: Collaboration of Orthopaedic Surgery with Technology

Abstract:
Orthopaedic surgery, which maintains musculoskeletal system, has an intimate relationship with technology. Knowledge of technology is essential for manufacturing external and internal fixators and implants.
 Animals are adapted to gravity. Cosmic space without gravity induces osteoporosis to astronauts. Each cells are controlled by mechanical stress.
Orthopedic surgeon developed limb lengthening applying mechanical stress to vital tissues. Our department progressed this concept to peripheral nerve lengthening, by which we can repair nerve defect without conventional free nerve grafts.
HAL is useful for incomplete parasis, for example peripheral nerve degeneration and incomplete spinal cord injury.
However, in complete paralysis, HAL is useless.
Recently Hirata et al. (Nagoya univ.) succeeded implantation of spinal anterior horn cells in a peripheral nerve and regeneration of axons. In this situation, Technology might control new neuro-muscular unit.

  Title: Cognitive aging and usability: How can we make artifacts universally designed?

abstract: It is widely said that older adults are not willing to use new tools, especially Information Technology (IT) based equipment, and in fact they show a lot of troubles in interacting with those artifacts. Is this mean that usability for older adults is different from usability for younger adults? Based on cognitive psychology and cognitive engineering investigation, relation between cognitive aging and products’ usability, and possibility to make artifacts with Universal Design will be discussed.

題目:「直立二足歩行の神経制御:感覚入力と下行性指令による影響」

概要:ヒトの二足歩行は直立姿勢を保ちながら左右肢の交互動作を発言する身体運動であり、多数の筋が関与している。この二足歩行に関する神経制御機構については依然不明な点が多い。本講演では、感覚入力や随意的な下行性ドライブが歩行を司る神経回路の興奮性にどのような影響をもたらすのかに関して研究成果を紹介する。

題目「選択的不感化ニューラルネットによる関数近似とそのサイバニクスへの応用」 

[概要]現在の知的情報処理技術は,しばしばイヌやネコが日常的に処理しているような現実の問題をうまく扱えないが,その根本的な原因は,関数近似の能力がイヌやネコの脳より劣っている点あると思われる.本講演では,既存の関数近似手法の問題点と,それを解決するために開発を進めている選択的不感化ニューラルネット(SDNN)について述べる.また,その応用例として,表面筋電位信号からの動作意図推定の研究などを紹介する.

[概要]サービスロボット(生活支援ロボット)は近年研究が盛んな一方で未だ実用化が遠い分野でもある.本講演では,「物理的支援」「情報的支援」に加え,これまでにサービスロボットに欠けていた「認知・心理的支援」についての重要性について述べ,アンドロイドを用いた病院での実証実験により得られた知見について解説する.また,サビスロボットによる支援の設計方法に関して,「生活機能」という考え方を導入することにより,現状の生活を記述し,必要な支援を分析することで体系的に行う「生活機能構成学」の枠組みの提案についても解説する
